EARLY FALL:
- Dead head perennials
- Fertilize lawns and control broadleaf weeds.
- Tip prune new growth on shrubs.
- Begin gradually lowering cutting height
- Remove summer annuals and plant fall flowers (Mums, Ornamental Cabbage and Kale, Pansies, Violas)
- Monitor for grubs in lawns
- Renovate or overseed lawn if necessary.
MID – LATE FALL:
- Clean up leaves as they fall.
- Winterize irrigation systems.
- Core Aerate lawns.
- Plant Spring flowering bulbs
- Cut back perennials and ornamental grasses
- Final mow lawn to a height of 2-2 ½” to help prevent snow mold.
WINTER:
- Dormant prune trees and shrubs to reduce plant size and rejuvenate health. Look for crossing branches, remove old wood, open up interior of plant.
- Consider a live balled and burlaped Evergreen tree for the holidays that can be added to the landscape in the spring!
